>Hi All,

I am going to be in Indy from 6/20/05 to 7/1/05 on business. What would be interesting to see while I am there. Are there any Woodturning Club meetings in Indy during this time and if so, where?

Thanks,

Bob M.

>Hi Bob,

Central Indiana Chapter of AAW meets on 6/18 and 7/11. Just missed 'em both. There's always the Speedway with its museum and tours. There's a decent zoo and a museum or two. A few art galleries (I think Jennifer has works on display in one downtown).

Feel free to email if you have more specific questions.

>The Central Indiana Chapter of the AAW serves the Indianapolis area. We meet just a bit to the northwest in Zionsville.

Our next meeting is this Saturday, June 18, at one of our member's shops. Most times we meet on the second Sunday of the month at the Zionsville Boys and Girls Club. Anyone interested in woodturning is welcome to attend our club meetings, just drop on by!

Please feel free to visit our club website at http://www.cicaaw.org/ to see our calendar or to learn more about us. This also allows access to our latest newsletter and to meeting photos each month. Interested parties can also sign up for email reminders via the website.

A couple times a year we'll bring in a featured demonstrator for a weekend of fun and learning. Not long ago we had Keith Tompkins in, for instance.

Anyway, hope you found this information useful, sorry the meeting date doesn't correspond with your trip to Indy, and please forgive the blatant club promotion in the process.

>Bob, if you have some free time to kill, you are invited to come over,up, or down to my shop.

Who knows you just might learn something or better yet I just might learn something from you, and boy do I need to learn.

Let me know a few days ahead of time and I will get a few others to drop by as well;

Anyway you will be welcome, as long as you bring the beer.

>Hi Bob,

What side of town are you going to be on? I'm onthe NE side of town. I'll be around for the last 3 days of your trip. Drop me an email if you like and I can direct you to some points of interest. Of course there's always Rockler and Woodcraft....two of my favorite hang-outs :)

>I would like to give a strong second to visiting the Eiteljorg. While in Indianapolis a few years back for a dancing competition with my daughter we were looking to take in some of the local sights. There were several families in our group, and while I wanted to go to a different art museum the majority voted for the Eiteljorg. Reluctantly I went along with the majority - and have ever since been thankful they chose as they did. I was really blown away from the time I entered the lobby. Their collection of Frederick Remington bronzes is outstanding. When the time comes that I find myself back in Indianapolis I know that the Eiteljorg is a definite visit. Also, the Speedway Museum is excellent. Don't pass up the bus ride around the track - even in a bus at 10 or 15 miles an hour, going down that main straightaway is an incredible feeling! Enjoy your visit - definitely a great place to have to be for a week.
