burls
John Lucas
>Well I had a good trip to Spring Mill state park in Indiana but I didn't get to see any woodturning. I had to bet there early so I missed stopping to see Choice Woods, then had found out I had to stay late to clean up from the reunion so I didn't even give Jamie a call. Bummer.
On the plus side that park is full of burls. I counted at least 10 that I could see from just driving around. The smallest was about 12" and the biggest was a burl on the base of the tree that was about 3 feet. Of course it's a state park and you can't cut them. I would never cut a burl off a live tree anyway. This leads credence to a rumor I've heard that if you find a burl there will usually be more in the area.
