>Dominic, I was looking at the article you wrote on the shopmade texturing tool, in prep for doing the same, and had a question.

You make mention of receiving the 6mm cutter and not the texturing cutter, and that you would be getting that one later on.

My question was three parts - have you received that second cutter, what is the difference, and if you had to choose one - which?

Thanks bud.

The wheel I ordered was labeled the "texturing wheel". It resembles the one supplied with the Sorby texturing tool. I have included a pic of the one I received as it was installed on my shop built tool.

I was expecting the wheel with the fine, flat-ish tooth pattern. To put it in perspective, if you figure the texturing tool I got had 18 teeth, the one I wanted had triple that amount of teeth, and they were much smaller, and blunter.

The confusion all arose from a mistake on Klingspor's web site. They show a the many-toothed wheel, and label it the "texturing wheel". In truth, the one I received is the true texturing cutter.

And I never got around to ordering that fine pitch wheel. But oddly enough, Eugen Schlack's recent Salad Bowl postings on WOW (with their elegantly applied texturing at the rims and base) have lit the fire of ambition under me. :>) I was planning on ordering that wheel some time soon.

To answer your third question, having used the texturing wheel, I really wish I had ordered the fine pitch wheel. I like that look better. The "orange peel" look the texturing wheel gives you is sort of "eh".

See ya around,

Dominic
