Plum Burl Vase PIC

Ben Aragon

>Hi All,

I havent posted in awhile; I havent done much turning either. I did quite a bit of turning over Christmas and posted my work. My father died in February, It was the worst day of my life and I havent felt like doing anything in the shop this winter. Im turning again and I thought I would start sharing what Ive been doing lately.

This first posting is a Plum burl I received from a tree trimmer. Its about 6 x 6 soaked for a few days in a linseed oil mix, dried, and the buffed with the Beall system.

Beautiful Pieces!

Jennifer@Indy.USA

>Hi Ben,

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It is really hard to lose a parent.

I love this Plum burl piece. It has a great easy form and yet it is rustic looking at the same time. Very nice. And the other pieces are lovely too. I really like the pierced one. I'd like to try that some day.

Glad you're getting back in the swing of turning again. I'm sure your Dad would want you to be out there making beautiful things and feeling good.

Take care,

Jennifer

>Keep in good contact with that tree trimmer. That's a mighty nice chunk of wood.

>Beautiful work, Ben. My condolences on your loss. I'm sure your Dad would be proud. Perhaps the fact that you are back in the shop and creating means that the healing process has begun.

>Ben,

Beautiful wood and work. I've turned plun before, but did not know there were burls available. Absolutely beautiful. Your tool work is very nice as well. Looks like you didn't loose much of your touch with the time off. Keep up the great work.

Turn 'em round,

RevDoug

Thank You

Ben Aragon

>Thank you all for the sympathies and very kind words of encouragement. I think I will give this Plum burl piece to the tree trimmer. Im inspired by the beautiful work you all do, the ideas I get from everyone are invaluable.

Best wishes to all

Ben
