To do in Tennessee and CAW meeting?

Shawn - in ID

>My wife and I will be spending next week around the Gatlinburg, Seviereville area, then Nashville for June 1-4. I'm going to stop into Arrowmont. Any other suggestions of woodturning related sites/'to dos'? Then we are going to visit my parents in Virginia. My father does the videos for the Capital Area Woodturner's club and my wife and I will be at the June meeting...I'd love to meet anyone from WC who is there!

>Shawn,

I'm about an hour and a half south of Gatlinburg if you want to come on down. Next week looks like a slow week anyway. I have a few nice pieces of wood, including some holly that needs a new home.

Send me an e-mail and maybe we can get together.

>Hi Shawn

You are in for a treat, Irene Gafert will be doing the demo. I attended one of her demos in Orlando. She is a fountain of knowledge about metal leaf with a terrific manner which I found enthralling.

I look forward to seeing you. I will be the guy in the BRIGHT Hawaiian shirt and grey beard.

You'll be driving right by me in BAxter, Tn. I'm 6 miles west of Cookeville. If you happen to come this way in the evening let me know and we'll get together. I have to work both of those days so i won't be home until 5 each day.

>Well, you'll be in Lonnie Bird's neighborhood, there is a great micro brewery called Rock Creek or something like that up there.

In Nashvile, the Frist center sometimes has nice furniture on exhibit (all TN stuff). They also have some Ron McNutt work there (I may have butchered his name). Sunset Cafe is a high end, but great restaurant.

Don't know of much turning specific stuff, sorry. beautiful part of the state to visit. Weather ought to be fairly comfy too.
