>Hi John,
Congratulations!
Have you posted a picture lately of the piece that you will have in KC? I don't think I've seen it. I know a couple of photographers, if you need one. 8^]

>Yes, John....first the disappointment of not making the cut.. Then, the letter that states you are IN...talk about mood swings! I'm happy for ya', man...you've earned it.
Thank you
Mike Schwing from Md.
>You were a major help in me getting there. Your stong nudges and confidence boosting conversations made all of the difference. I still can't believe I made that cut with such little time in the sport. I'm now really anxious that my work won't be up to par, but deep down I know it'll be fine. Fortunately, with the weird stuff that comes out of my shop, there's nothing to compare against!

>Glad I could help, Mike....time in the "sport" is not always a good guideline. It's interesting that you emulated the very best forms right from the beginning, and learned good technique right off the bat.
That is exactly the mix I talk about in my demos...add a little imagination...presto! congrats, Mike.

You stated exactly why I thought I wouldn't get in. I make wierd stuff. My claim to fame is that you never know what will come out of my shop next. One of the biggest problems is most of my ideas require some technique that I have to invent and that takes time which I don't have. Glad to be in there with you.

Here it is. It's an inside-out turning with the antique oil can captured inside. It's painted on the inside with Krylon Stone Flek and then painted over that with metallic silver. The outside was Krlon Chrome spray with matt spray over it. That dulls it down so it looks more silver than chrome. The rivets on the body were pop rivets. The rivets on the funnel were brass nails cut to 1/8" length. It was fun turning a funnel for real instead of by accident.
The heart was hand carved and dyed with analine dye and hangs from a chain.
