>If you are talking about the Sorby passive sander then a few questions come to mind.

1) Are you presenting less than 1/2 the sanding head to the wood?

2) Is your presentation at about 9:00 - 9:30? Or, 3:00 - 3:30?

3) It may seem like a really silly question, but is the lathe running?

4) Is is safe to assume that the head does infact turn freely?

Feel free to email direct if you have further questions.

Turn 'em round,

>The lathe is running at slow speed, about 500 rpm's or less...

I am presenting the tool at about 7:00 ...and the tool head does move freely on the shaft

I am applying only the edge of the sanding wheel to the wood, the majority of the wheel/sanding disc does not contact the wood

tried it again this morning with same results, seems like I am just not getting the right spot on the passive sander to make it spin..Dennis
