PM 3520 (B)

John Cahall, Ohio

>I heard todday at our OVWG turning meeting that Powermatic has or is coming out with a new 3520 and calling a 3520b. Was told it had a "true" spindle lock and an indexer included. Anyone heard about it? Love my 3520a but must admit those are tow features that would be great additions.

>I will be anxious to hear about that. I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on one, but probably will wait for the new model if that's true!

>Bummer. I love my 3520 but those would make great additions. Apparently they are listening to us. Now about that "mustard yellow".

I just found out that Canon is now selling my exact same camera at the same price with 8 megs instead of my 6 meg ccd. Oh well when you buy something nowadays you might as well assume that tomorrow a new model will come out.

Electronics

Fred in NC

>Seems to me that electronics are the only consumer items that have not been affected by inflation. I saw a 15" LCD TV for $250, and it even has a VGA input for use with a computer. The prices of consumer electronics are constantly dropping.

I wish the same applied to automobiles and machinery.

Yes, a new model is coming

Shawn - in ID

>Just got off the phone with WMH Tool group. Answer was -yes- there is a new model coming out but no info yet at the tech office...they are going to pry the engineering group and give me a call back by week's end. I have a call in to Osolnik Machinery (now having a good sale on the 3520a); they have contacted WMH engineering also to get more info on the upgrade - specs, timeframe, cost. I'll pass along any and all info I get.

Just for Smiles

Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey

>Last time I looked at the P-Matic site for someone, I noticed that there is an indexing wheel kit available as a bolt-on option for 3520a's. You A-owners need not feel completely left behind!

Yer SOL on the color, however.

Not really worth the money...

Chris Wright

>I was fortunate enough to get a great deal on my indexer for my PM (free) but I would not pay the $149 they ask for it. The same thing could be machined for $50 or less if you know the right people and I imagine you could easily make something from wood for even less since it wouldn't have to withstand torsional forces you don't exactly need a metal one. Besides, a 60 point index wheel would be much easier to work with than 48.

>Chris,

With no personal experience with the unit, all I could do was inform and point people to its existance. From your comments, I guess I should not bother. More importantly, if the 3520"B" merely incorporates the same cheezy unit into a new "package deal" (where have we seen that before?), prospective "B"-buyers should take note. Maybe your posting a short review and a couple of pics would be worthwhile to people thinking of joining the Mustard Club's "B Team".
