Big Leaf Maple Burl

>Got this Big Leaf Maple Burl from a friend ( thanks Gary) and it is the first burl I have turned, but will not be the last. It was a bit punky so I had no idea what I was going to make with it, but I was able to turn most of the punky wood out. It ended up 10" x 2-1/4" when done and is only finished with the 3 buffing wheels.
I was glad I had my Trend Airshield on because the knot that came off the side did it when I least expected it.

Wasn't sure when I started what it would finish up like but after getting most of the punky stuff out this form just came to mind and worked. The knot was a nice looking knot that I wanted to work into it, but it didn't stay.
