Art Liestman Demo

>I had the good fortune to attend a demo by Art Liestman today at the monthly CAW meeting. This is a picture of the meeting. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of Art.

His demo was focused on moving your woodturning to the next level. Art started with methods to develop your eye for good design. He provided several good techniques for helping to develop a critical eye.

After lunch Art helped us explore many different texturing techniques with an emphases on limiting your tools to expand your imagination. What different ways can you enhance a bowl rim with just one or tow tools?

Thanks Art

If any of you have a chance to spend some time with Art you are in for a treat.

Not a bad profile of me!

Notice the two-headed person in the blue shirt on the right side of the whiteboard (screen) just to the right of the clock. Looks like it might be five photos.

>That's the chapter president. He's standing by the lathe and if Art had been demoing at the time, he too would have been 2 headed.

I noticed that Rich had a new camera a couple of months ago and he's obviously having some fun with.

By the way rich, too bad you have to work today. :-)

>I have several different photo stitch programs. If you take overlaping pictures (10%-30% overlap) then the coputer program will stitch the pictures together. If someone moves and they are in the overlap area... But the programs are real easy to use and the effect is a way to show how well attended the meeting is attended.

>I was able to attend his workshop the day before the demo. If you ever get the chance to do the same, do it. The only drawback was that my new tool budget is now suffering from the bloats.
