We had an interesting Guest

Hawaii Turner

>At our Big Island Woodturners meeting this past Sat.we had the pleasure of the distinguished Mr. Myron Curtis and his son Ed,dropping in and paying us a visit. Myron spoke for a few minutes about what he turns and is working on. We chatted over lunch which was too short (only 1/2 hr.) and they left shortly after. Too bad that they didn't stay until the end of the meeting as we would probably have talked until the stars came out. Interesting guy and only 87?, I'm not quite sure if that is what he said, but I sure wish that I am as with it as he is when I get there.

>Myron is "only 85" and he works about 8 days a week, at a pace that would put us all to shame. His knowledge of turning is an encyclopia and his standards are flawless. He is an amazing guy and I count myself very lucky to have met him and watched him work. Besides, he is a Navy man, and a retired teacher. Not bad to be a Sage in your third career! Phil
