>Ron,

I have had one for several months now, and I have only played with it a little bit. The instructions weren't very good and it is definately a finishing only tool. I can only take very light cuts and it traverses very slowly. At this stage, I should have saved my $ and use the 80G gouge more, it is quicker. Some of the very curly Koa that I sometimes am blessed to turn defies any tool to cut it 100% tear free. I will try it somemore, and if I change my mind about the tool, I will post here.

Aloha, Doug

>Ron check out my pic in the grinds library. One of the gouges is an old sorby long and strong that is almost identical to the bowl skew. It is a really excellent tool for cleaning up the bottom of a bowl, but that is all I use it for. I've never attempted any other cut orther than holding the tool at 45 deg. and moving across the bottom.

>Dave Hout is up next week at John C. Campbell Folk School. I have been with him when he has demonstrated the finishing tool. It is pretty simple to use and I use it alot on the interior of bowls. Leaves a super final cut surface.

Yup...got both of them

>They work, but I put them in the same catagory as the Sorby Spindle Master. Other tools work as good or better. They are no replacement for good technique.
