>Doug,
I just turned my first piece of cottonwood several weeks ago and loved it. It was a burled piece but it cut clean and was just beautiful wood to work with. I suggest you grab a few pieces and go for it!

>Doug--any wood is good to try.Especially when free.Never take a piece to experiment with or to learn with.I did every piece as though it was to be a masterpiece. What would happen if the wood was very extra-ordinary--then you ruined it,or if you really did a good job and the wood was not up to par.Be happy with your work--never look at it as though it is not as good as others. It is YOU that did it.Gary
