Web Album Generator *LINK*

Mike Schwing from Md.

>Totally unsolicited suggestion based on a great experience with some totally free software.

I just updated my webpage/site for the first time in a very long time. Downloaded the latest version of the software I've been using, called "Web Album Generator", and linked below.

To use it, simply put your photos in a place on your PC where you can find them, run the application and select your photos, give them descriptions, then choose the web layout of your liking. It does the rest. Then you upload the files to your own webspace (too involved to describe here, and better told by your ISP anyway).

I added some descriptive text by simply opening up the index file (home page) in Word and saving it again as a html file.

Really, one of the best little free apps I've ever used.

My site can be accessed at www.schwingwoodworks.com . Nothing fancy, just a place I can point my mom and other friends to my work.

Lets see what you can do with it! Link below

>Looks pretty good Mike.. thanks for the link..

Just one question, I looked at your homepage.. is that also done with this program.. do the thumbnail pics automatically link to the larger pics or did you do that yourself...

Sounds like what I want to do with my pen sale site when I get if finished..

>Tom, everything links magically. It generates the thumbnails and the linked pages, too. You decide how many thumbs rows and colums per page. The only editing I did was to add my own few sentences under the home page giving my email, etc..

It is very unusual to find a quality program like this for 1. Free, and 2. That doesn't insist on popups, intrusive links, and lets you edit them out if you wish.

>What a fantastic program... Thanks Mike, I owe you one....

The example here took me about a day less than it would have if I had done it all manually... BTW, the pics will load a bit slow because they were not optimized like I normally would.. I wanted to test this program right away...

Here is the link to what it did for me.. This is just a quick and dirty test, but so far I am very satisfied...

I did a little tweaking to the final format to suit myself, but I was able to add my PayPal Shopping Cart button to the finished pages with no problem

I also had no problem tweaking the .css file so I didn't have to go page by page...

>Great program--if they charged $5, it would be worthwhile and they could make a bundle! One of the few times I wish I used Windows instead of Mac LOL.

Mike, on page 3 of your album the page links are screwed up. Page 2 has no link there, but 3 is linked to itself.

Nice to see you have a personal web presence, if it's good enough for Mom it's good enough for the world ;-)

>Aloha Mike

Thanks for the link, and I think that your website is great. It gives us a chance to view a lot of your excellent work quickly.

This program will force me to finally create a web page.

>Hey Mike, good looking stuff. I always like the group shots because it gives you a better idea of the size relationship between pieces. I added a link to your site from mine the other day. Just hadn't got around to letting you know. I am in the process of updating my site with a bunch of new photos. I post a notice after I upload it.
