Call it lifesaving cancer surgery for the tree.
Sending a bill makes it look legit.

I like your thinking. Should I wear a white lab coat while I do it? John

I spent 20 minutes ramming it with my bumper car trying to get it to fall, but no luck... :-)

You need to convice them that it's contagious and will ruin there other trees. Maybe you could get a uniform that says Atlanta Center for Disease Control and tell them that it must come down.

>I have a theory that you can do anything as long as you are wearing and orange safety vest and look like you know what you are doing. I don't think anyone in this town would bother to ask somebody in an orange vest what they are doing no matter how crazy the situation seems.
That tree is in the public right of way. I already have my trusty Stihl....now I just need that vest! ;-)

You might want to be careful posting this kind of picture. It isn't good to be known as a tree-hugger in some circles. 8^]

>Everyone else is posting pics of burls growing on trees. I just had to post this. It wasn't growing, and it probably would not be all that interesting once turned (I've tried turning softwood burls and found little interesting figure). However THESE burls were located in Bethel, Alaska (I just got back from 3 weeks of work there). Very close to the Arctic circle and the nothern edge of timber of any sort, except maybe willow.
