I haven't used a ring tool, only spindle gouge, oval skew and parting tool.

Nice rattle. How do you sand the inside of the rings once they are cut? I made a captured ring vase and had trouble with the finishing of the rings.
Great pictures of both, the cute rattle-owner and the rattle.

>Tom, get some sandpaper that had adhesive on the back and adhere it to the rattle and hold the ring down on it while the lathe is on a low speed. the sandpaper comes in narrow widths and in small rolls.

>I try to explain (very bad English, sorry):
I sand the rings before they are cut. Then I cut the rings (three shoulders of wood lets in the axis of the rattle). When I have cut all the rings, I hold them in the left side with adhesive tape, I turn and sand the right side of the axis and then I hold the rings on the right to turn the left side.
Another way: Dremel tool to sand the inside of the rings.
Un saludo,
Carles.

>Very nice, Carles. And the Dremel tool is a good idea, if the stem/axis/shaft is thin or curved and sandpaper will not stick to it.
Don't worry about your English - some Americans on this forum don't write any better than you do :-)
