ARM BRACES

Jim D. Clayton, NJ

>I would like feedback on arm braces. I see Sorby (3/4" shank tools), Stewart (3/4" shank tools) and the scorpin? Are there any I missed?

Are thse worth the investment? CAn they be used with other size shanked tools? Is there any advantage over a streight handle?

I have some tools with 1/2" and 5/8" shanks I want to put a larger handle on and am wondering if this is the way to go.

Like yourself I'm new to turning and have many questions. I ordered the Scorpion yesterday. Overall it appears to offer the most for the money. I have read very positive revues on this board. I previously purchased the Keller hollowers and will be able to use them with the Scorpion armbrace as it comes with several adapters.

Good Luck

>Another view: My armbrace hangs on the wall where it has been for five years since I discovered outriggers, of which I have manufactured several in different sizes and various angles. The attached picture will not be of much use, because I have not yet learned to post pictures. Use your immagination. If you would like to see a picture of my outriggers, I can send one via e-mail.
