>I use India Inks, ground up pastel chalk and powdered tempera paints. I've also used some artists gels but I can't remember the brand or even the type. It was whatever Ihad on hand, usually water based but I just don't remember. I've tried a lot of things over the years and have been surprised at the compatability.

Thank you all

>I never thought of ink, the only coloring I've done is black, using graphite.

The gel coat colors are opaque, I am thinking transparent, so I will try the india ink.

Thank you guys.

>You've had some good advice. I'll add something else. Add a little glitter, which you can get at a craft store. Comes in various colors including gold. Use it sparingly, along with india ink or whatever. Adds a little sparkle.

Adding to epoxy

Fred in NC

>I read all the responses above, and yes, epoxy seems to be a good mixer.

I might add acrylic artist colors to the list. They ones that come in 2oz bottles at the discount chain store.

Dry pigments are probably best for deep tones since there is no dilution in a vehicle. Add to one of the parts, mix, and then mix the 2 parts together.

My understanding is that it is not wise to add more than 10% of anything by volume, or you will have some drying problems.

Your right. I forgot to mention that mixing things in epoxy affects it's strength as well. Works great for filling voids but if you are going to use it to glue parts together don't mix more than 10 percent of the material. Personally I would mix up a batch and test the strength before doing something this serious.

Thanks

Jorge Castaneda ~ Downeast Maine

>Fred and John,

The mixing procedure and amount of fillers seems to be important so I will keep dyes and fillers to the minimum, what I am trying to do is salvage some 40 oddball bowls that have a hole on them or miss a chunk on the rim.

Gracias
