>Hello John, I am going to take a chance and attempt to answer this.
1)right click on your desktop
2) on drop down menu, point at "Active Desktop"
3) on next menu, Is "Lock Desktop Items" checked? if it is, uncheck it.
Otherwise, I have no ither idea.

I didn't know you could do that so I right clicked and it was unchecked. I guess I'm still lost.

When you right click on a photo to save it use the SAVE IMAGE AS option. When the box opens click on the arrow to open the list. Then point to your newly created folder as the spot to save it to.
Hope this helps,

>Aloha John,
Do as Tom said about "saving as" to a folder on C drive, then
1) right click on your desktop
2) click on properties
3)click on "browse
4)select the file and open, select pic
this will add it to the list
5)select it from the list for the desktop.
I just tried it and worked for me.
I hope that it works for you

>John,
When you are viewing the pic, if you right click on it do you get a menu with an item "set as wallpaper" or something similar? I just tried that with a posting and it appeared on my desktop, pronto. I use Mozilla but I believe other browsers work similar.
Ahoha and off to work,
Doug

>John,
Did you dry the Drag&Drop method? That's how I copy almost all pictures from a browser window. Just hold the left mouse button down over the picture, drag away, and release over the desktop or some other app or an Explorer window. This is a lot quicker than digging around through the little save dialog trying to find the desired directory.
I usually drag to another folder but sometimes into an image program. I use dual monitors on all of my computers so this is easier, but with a single montitor you can resize the browser window to expose just a bit of the desktop or window below and drop there.
I use Drag&Drop for opening, copying, and moving most files, even between various machines on my network, unless I'm synchronizing entire directories. (For managing images already on the machines I usually use the same techniques with a program called ACDSee - in my work I sometimes deal with 10s of thousands of images each year.)

Some email systems (for example, Eudora) put all attachments in one directory and all embedded images in another directory. You can move them around as necessary.

I'm using netscape. My boss just told my how to do a search and find out where my images are going. Then maybe I can figure out what to do about it.
I want voice recognition. When my computer hears "what the #@$% is this #$%^# thing doing now" it will assume that I didn't want to do that and go back to the previous state.
