Ken DeMarco visit

Rick Allen

>Ken DeMarco found himself in the DC area, where he was able to stop by for a visit and turn a bowl. Ken is a terrific turner and a heck of a nice guy. Ken brought along Mark. We spent an hour inspecting my collection of turnings. Ken was very kind in admiering my crude turnings. We then turned the bowl Ken has in his hand. Well actually Ken turned the bowl or 90% of it. You can't see the burned line on the side of the bowl. That line caused us a good deal of "design opportunity" as I managed to let the skew get away from me. In the end it was a very nice cherry bowl.

>What a great guy!! Richard invited me over for a visit while I was stuck in the DC area and showed me his incredible turnings, lots of gorgeous platters and bowls, lots of eye candy in his living room!!! He then invited me down to his shop and helped me turn some cherry. So much better than spending a day in the hotel, or doing anything else. Thank you again Richard for one of the best days on the road I have ever had.
