>After 3 months, I finally got my new lathes. 2436 & 1224. Now I just have to clean everything up to make room!

>Peter, you're disgusting! ;) Here I sit with my little Jet Mini, having just yesterday spent every penny of my "new lathe savings" for roof repairs and you are showing off not one, but TWO brand new Oneways! LOL

Congratulations. I know you will enjoy them. WHich one are you going to fire up first?

>Wow, thats a nice collection of lathes you have there Peter. I would expect that you likely use the 2436 for large turings and the 1224 for smaller turnings, but any other reason than that for having both?

>Knowing first hand what types of turnings peter does i understand why he got both.. big one for his bowls and the smaller one for anything that would be just too small on the big lathe..

congrats.. and i bet those lathes will be well used..

>Wow if I'm not seeing double,That big Oneway has just given birth to a little Oneway and since you've got 2 of them I think you should send that baby one Myway. I will take good care of the little one and raise him up right, to just below my elbow height. David

Two are better than one...

Peter Teubel

>...and 5 are better than 2. I had 5 lathes and used them all. When doing production work, I wouldn't change chuck jaws, or change chucks...I'd just change lathes. Really speeds things up. Since returning to the corporate work world (temporarily), I decided to "invest in my future" and put the well earned compensation to work. I wanted a lathe I would not out-grow or need to service/fix anytime soon. I was, and will be again, attempting to make a living turning.

The small one will be modified with retractable wheels and used as my traveling lathe (I almost always demo at selling venues). The stand will be enclosed and will have plenty of storage all the tools & accessories needed for turning. A winch will haul it into my truck on ramps or I might just get a small trailer for it.

I also teach woodturning in my shop, so more than one lathe is necessary. I'm in the process of relocating the last bits of non-woodturning related stuff (lawnmower, gardening tools, auto parts, etc.) from my garage...er, shop...so there might even be room for another.. ;)

Eventually, but not soon...

Peter Teubel

>Eventually, they will be well used, but I'm working 6 days a week for THE MAN, so there is little time for turning. Its only a temporary position (3 months originally, going on 9), but I will be back in the shop full time soon enough.

Got to make hay while the sun shines...

About Time

John McAtee

>It's about time you did this. Other than money, what took you so long and are you sure you bought enough white? :-)

Very understandable

>What is unusual is buying two lathes at the same time. Very happy for you that you were able to get them!

Hers and Hers

Raymond Overman in SC

>If that was the case in my world the bigger one would end up being the Hers and she'd still want to use the smaller one too. 8-)

Sorry to hear about your other obligations to THE MAN Peter. What a time to be gainfully employed when you've got those beauties sitting in the shop waiting for you. Hopefully you'll get a minute to set them up and give them a spin soon. Don't let the system get you down man.

Got that too...

Peter Teubel

>Just haven't attached it yet. Only the 17", not the big 44" (yet)...
