>I like the texturing. I like the bowl. Is that color pretty true (or is it just my browser)? Did you core it and save the inner chunk for more bowls?

Perfect!

>Perfect! Absolutely perfect Chris. An example of a perfectly turned, embellished, and finished bowl. If only you used your talents for good.. (to quote John Trant)

>Chris,

Beautiful! If you don't mind me asking...what do you use to create the texture along the outside rim? A chatter tool? Can you advise where to get a chatter tool? Or how to make one?

thanks...

JL, The reddish color is pretty true. The photo is a bit dark, but the color is 98% correct. I bought the core from Dan Bailey in Colorado. It's nearly impossible to get nice wood this size in Downtown L.A. ;) He finds some of the nicest blanks & his prices are great.

DWFII, the texturing was done with the Sorby Sprailing & Texturing tool. Woodcraft carries them (see link below) I don't know if it could be made or not. A Chatter tool works on end grain, the texturing tool works on both end and side grain, and the chatter tool doesn't do as much as this tool does.

About a year ago I posted pics of a Shop Built Texturing Tool I made. I used the Sorby wheel purchased from Klingspor Woodworking. While I've only used it a couple times, it worked just fine.

See ya around,

>Chris,

Very nice job on this bowl! Very nice indeed! Shape, texturing, finishing,...I think you really "nailed it" in all three categories.

See ya around,

Dominic
