Sad News: Jean Michel

W.C. Turner

>It is with deep regret that I pass along an email I got from Jean's wife. I don't read French, and it was in French, with the subject, "Deces de Jean Michel". It appears that Jean passed away on March 14, 2005 of heart failure. Many of you may have received his free plans for his version of the wolverine sharpening jig. He lived in McMasterville,QC, Canada. He was a good email friend to me!

I was wondering if any of you other Canadians knew of his passing?

He will be sorely missed!

W.C.

>I still use the jig I made from his plans. He was a wonderfully giving person. I benefitted more from his generosity than he did from my dumb questions.

>Although I never met the man, through several e-mails, I felt that he was a warm and caring guy and a trip through his website proves that he was also a very skilled and articulate craftsman. Rest in peace. We will all miss you.

>Hi WC,

No, I did not know of his passing, this is very sad indeed.

I have long enjoyed his web site and his high spirit for life, his contribution to many of us has been wonderful.

If his family indeed sees this post I would like to pass along my prayers and my thanks to them, without them, he would not have been the person he was.

Take care,

Jim

>Hello W.C.

If this is true it is a very tragic event. Jean was one of the most giving and sharing man I had ever met. Although I never met him in person, we did sent a few emails back and forth.

He probably helped more people that he ever realized. He was a great one for sending out plans to anyone how asked for them.

He was what woodturning is all about, sharing and caring. I know that I will miss his giving nature and the good soul that he was.

My best wishes go out to his family in this trying time.

Dave
