I saw one like this here some time ago and I set aside a few slabs of curly pear for the same purpose. My intent is to allow them to dry before turning. Was this turned wet or dry?

>Mike , I have carved some letter III's at
the top and bottom. On may practice pieces
I usually go all the way around a round platter.
I did not want to carve into the great figure
on this one. It was bone dry this and many other
pieces I got off a gut that had them air drying
for over ten years.

>A great idea for slabwood and very nicely done Bernie. I like your finish also, seems to allow the color and figure to come through well!

I love it.

>Hi Bernie,
That is very, very nice! I love the way the bowl is incorporated into that piece. That's really neat.
Very nice work on the flat parts as well. I would imagine the wood wanted to tear badly there. Great stuff.
Thanks for the pics,
Mike
