>Just a few photos (I'm not so good with a camera) to let all the good folks on this forum know that I've haven't been bugging you all for 6 months or so for nothing.

This first one is actually my second bowl. It is apple and I turned it from a roughed out bowl that Dave Smith had alcohol dried and sent to me. 4.5 x 2

I've got a lot to learn...still some uneveness in the interior and some tool mark or sandpaper scratching visible. But over all not too bad.

Any comments or critiques appreciated.

Thanks Dave...

Ya done good with the bird pecked wood DW

Dave Smith, Longview, WA

>Hi DW,

You finished off that bird pecked apple bowl nicely. I did a lot of roughing when I got that tree apple and a cherry tree a couple of years ago. The trees were not big but they were bird pecked which accounts for the specks and grain distortion in the wood. The wood will darken some with exposure to light which will make your good job look even better. You were handcuffed with the shape I had roughed out but you made a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Dave Smith

Not sure apple wood equates to a sows in Longview, WA.

>Color is rich. Dave is right. The bird pecking sets it off.
