Sealing vases?

>This is a question for the vase turners. How do you seal the inside of your vases. Some people may be tempted to use them to put flowers (real, not silk) and water in them. Do you seal the inside of these vases against that eventuality? Do you just say "Don't put water in them!"?

>I have not sealed the inside of mine and it never occurred to me anyone would put water in them. Most of mine have voids and gaping holes anyway. OTOH, I gave a bowl made of spalted maple to an acquaintance and they came back wanting more. Seems it started a family rivalry. Which kid gets to eat their cereal out of the wooden bowl? Oddly, I had given them the only one I had that did not have holes. I guess they would have been ticked if it had leaked. Lacquer is food safe, right?

>I finish the inside of mine with same as the outside, Russ's tung oil mixture of polymerized tung oil, spar urathene, and turpentine. I hope the spar will help with the water.

>This may not be exactly what you mean, but I've read of embedding a glass vial into a drilled hole. Another person coated the inside with epoxy.

And the link below is to an article here on WC.
