>How can you determine if you have good tension on a bandsaw blade...mine seems slack, I can move the blade easily with finger...I have a G0555 with the rizer block, since adding the blocks, the tension doesn't seem right...there was a procedure, not listed with the rizer block, to increase the lenght, does anyone know of or have the instructions...thanks...Dennis

>Dennis,

There is a set screw on the tensioning collars that can be loosened to get more tension.

>Both stops shown in the picture need to be moved/adjusted. A quick call to tech service will tell you exactly how to do this if you have problems - refer to this picture when you listen to them, or better yet, have the phone by your bandsaw.

You might want to get a copy of Band Saw Handbook by Mark Duginske. The author describes much about tuning a bandsaw including tensioning. Without a tension guage, he recommends plucking the blade (the back of the return side) and listening to the sound while increasing the tension. The pitch will go up and the sound volume will increase until the blade is overtensioned, then the loudness will decrease. He describes it better than I do - I'm going from memory.

The book is well worth having, even if just for the tracking adjustment why and how.
