>Just in the process of unpacking and assembling my Jet 1642. Wondering if anyone out there has any comments as to do or don't about the assembly. Looking forward to hitting the start button and make some chips.

>Just do it quickly - the lathe is a lot of fun!

Mine went together in 30 minutes or so but it would have been quicker if I had had some help. By myself, I removed head and tailstock from the bed, stood up one leg, leaned it over to prop up one end of the bed and fastened those screws, then raised up the other end and scooted the other leg under. Cleaned off the gunk, filed the tool rest, waxed everything and started turning.

>I also put mine together alone in about 30 minutes, and raised the height a little bit for me...make sure to clean the gunk off real good and then wax the ways to prevent rust...it is a great lathe..I love it...Dennis
