>I am in the process of installing 220 in my garage(easy part). But the electrician says the 3520a is wired for 110. The cable coming out of the powermatic has 1 black, one white, and one green wire. Is it supplied by 110 and converted to 220 to the motor? or is it wire wrong..HELP

>Just got mine a week ago. 220 not 110. The options, if I'm not mistaken, are sigle phase or three phase.

Mine came wired for single phase and I installed a three prong plug. One prong vertical, one horizontal and the round one is a ground. Hope this helps

>I guess you know if you hook a 120 volt machine to 240 it will smoke it. But if you hook up a 240volt to 120 volt it just won't run. It won't hurt it.It should say in your electrical schematic in your instruction manual exactly how to hook it up.My powermatic jointer also has a specification page that describes all facets of the machine including the motor specs. You do have a manuel ,right? Wire colors

>It's common to use the white as a hot leg for 220. I don't think flex cable is made with black/black or black/red. Technically the white wire should be marked with red or black by the electrician doing the installation but I never seen anyone actually do it.

BTW if you need a 200 extention cord it's cheaper to buy a heavy duty 110 cord and replace the ends than to buy the bare cable.
