A "Heads Up" for Bucks County Turners!

>Red Alert! Red Alert!

There has been some large scale tree removal at the intersection of Rt 332 (The Newtown Bypass) and I-95 North. They have the trees already cut down and they are waiting to be chipped. There is one pile of logs right off the road, along Rt# 332.

I was able to get some large chunks of Osage Orange and Mulberry. I saw some medium (12") to largish (18") Cherry there, as well as some white oak, red oak, maple, and other local species.

Some of the Osage logs are truly "Grumbine-esque" (fit only to be viewed by the owners of mighty Poolewoods and cut by chainsaws with 28" bars or over). I tried to move one of them and it was like trying to throw a body block at a 5 ton bolder.

You better hurry up before they join the rest of the shredded trees in the 3 story tall chip pile!

I figured that there's enough logs left to keep a bunch of us real busy!

See ya around,

Dominic

>Speaking for those of us not in your State, much less side of the country, you are a cruel man! I have visions of the choice wood just about to be shredded into mulch, and I can do NOTHING about it! Waaahhhhhh

>Dominic,

I hope you'll be heading into Philly with the Bucks turners tomorrow (tomorrow being the 16th, Saturday) so I can offer some assistance in helping you move some more wood. I don't know if this is your area as well, but there was a BIG section of tree (with a very clear center, looked real good) just a little ways onto County Line Road on the right hand side if you are going West off of 611 (Easton Road). I saw it on my way to Dave Hardy's on Tuesday. If I didn't drive a tiny little hatchback, I would have probably tried to get out and put it in the trunk. (Probably a 3 man job.)

It looked fresh cut on Tuesay.

Me, my Husky 372 (28"), and my trailer with mounted crane will be there in the morning early. I'll slice you some if you show up to help load!

Don't think so

>Craig,

Sorry, but I've got to many chores around the house for me to make it into Philly.

However, I plan on attending the next BCWT meeting on the 18th. maybe I'll see you there?

BTW, thanks for the heads up on the other tree. But if I bring home any more wood, my wife will implode. :>)

>Hi Mark,

If you do make it over there tomorrow and ifyou do happen to get some of that Grumbin-esque osage orange and if you are going to be at Bill's in July and are in a charitable mood, I'm sure others besides myself would love a few hunks of that. Heck, even if you are in a profitable mood and could get a few hunks of that osage to Bill's, I'm sure myself and others would be willing to pay for your efforts in getting the wood there :)

I hope all is well in NJ and that you are able to make it to Bill's this summer, wood or not!

Talk to you soon,

Mike

>AAARGGGHHH!

I'm busy all day tomorrow or I'd take the trip to meet you there for sure. I'd love to get my hands on some Osage.

Dom if you read this & it's still there after Wednesday could you let me know. I might be able to run up Wednesday or thursday after work to grab some.

>Mark - I'll help load if you can help point out the osage orange and cherry. I'm only a 1/2 hour way. I can bring my dinky 16 inch Homelite for the trim work. I'll only need the Nova3000 sized chunks.

Harvesting wood in PA wasn't on it.

>I rode up there this morning but I couldn't find anyone around to ask if it was OK to harvest some of it. Dominic is correct. There's a bunch of it there. And a lot of it is too big for my 16" chainsaw.

If I can, I'll try to wander past there again later this week. I didn't know the ground rules for gathering roadside wood on private property so I waited to see if anyone who looked like they belonged there showed. No one did so I left.

show up to Bill's BBQ with some special goodies (and I don't mean my wife's Strawberry Shortcake) just for my pals from Wood Central! I've got some Osage, Cherry, and Walnut, set aside just for that occasion.

See ya around,

Dominic
