I have built about 8 of these (two for myself and 6 for club members). They work great.

>No. They'll have to make for you "special" from the last time I asked.
Go with the EZ-Vac from Packard. Way cheaper and works great on the 1236, especially if you add a small "o" ring to the morse taper end!

Re: Why
Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey
>Because the thread on the JET 1236 is a strange size, so while the Oneway will fit the threads on many lathes, including JET 1236 clones, it won't fit the JET unless a special thread is ordered. They quoted me $100+ when I had my JET two years ago.
Of course, if they've decided to make and stock a JET version, or if JET charged their thread to math others, I wouldn't know about that.

I'll be getting a price on Friday

>David,
If you have to have it special ordered as I thought, remember that you'll loose the "investment" when (not "if") you move to a bigger lathe because the thread won't fit the spindle on the next lathe. The EZ-Vac, however, will work on any machine with a hollow spindle, so you can use it again and again with the only expense being buying a short piece of threaded lamp-rod is the spindle is longer.

Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey
>Yup.
Took 15sec to put on, didn't have to worry about crossed threads, and, with that O-ring I mentioned in place, I routinely pulled 27" of vacuum on the rig regardless of how fast the lathe was spinning.
Oh. Don't forget to put a vacuum gage and small bleeder ball valve in your rig so that you can adjust the vacuum and tell have much force you're actually putting on the workpiece. Reduces the number of imploded bowls by almost 100%. |;-}}
