Cleaning Bandsaw Blades

>Until I started this spinny stuff I never had to deal with green wood gunk on my bandsaw blade. What do you folks find to be the best way to clean them? Is there a way to do it with the blade mounted? I have been soaking it in Simple Green and using a tooth brush, but that is really a pita.

Okay, so that's 5 steps, don't be so picky.

You can help it stay cleaner by touching a lump of bee's wax to the blade while running from time-to-time.

>I just bought a new Timberwolf blade. The instructions said that a spray of a little Pam was good for the blade. I don't know about using it to clean it but it seems to imply it'll help keep it clean to start with.

I haven't tried it so I can't comment on how effective it is.

Pam will draw ants (damhikt). I have sawn with some really dry lumber and knock the chunks off the blade. If you are bound and determined to clean them soak them in simple green for a couple of hours. My solution now is to buy blades with a wider set to the teeth. It really helps to pull the chips through.

I use the square end of a small piece of wood to scrape the blade behind the teeth to clean the blade. My problem is the bearing guides get covered with green wood also and my scraping method doesn't work as good on those because they stop spinning when you touch them.

They also sell resin remover for table saw blades, which might work better than the Simple Green. (?)
