Suggestion for a turning chat?

Dominic Greco in Richboro PA

>

I've been thinking about the turning chats lately and was wondering if I could float a couple of ideas past the group for future topics.

Here goes

  • Soap or Alcohol soaking. Maybe a topic on new techniques for drying wood. (Maybe even get Dave Smith to show up so he could address the many questions that have been posted over the last several weeks. How's about it Dave?).

  • Turning small items like boxes, pens, or bottle stoppers. Maybe even some discussions on what kind of small items are your "hot sellers". I know a lot of people who make their money off of small items like this. I'd love to hear their take on "Production Turning" of small items.

Any thoughts on this?

See ya around,

Dominic

>We did the alcohol oak a few weeks ago but it was pretty new at the time and there weren't that many questions asked or answered; maybe after a few more have tried it we can do that topic again and get more input. I have invested in a couple of barrels of alcohol to test but haven't started it yet.

Small items....if we can find someone else to host that topic it is ok with me but I have no experience in this area. Volunteer?.....

>I'd like one on best woods for turning, tree id,blank sizes, the alcohol soaking, wood storage, vacuum chucks, best lathe accessories, and anything for rookie types. I checked the chat out the other day but the topic was hardley even discussed. I was dissapointed. I was hoping to learn something. I had some questions but never got around to them. David
