>Criticism :) - What wood? Inquiring minds want to know. What finish? What sanding? What size?

Seriously, though - I like the foot. The form is quite nice. It looks like it could take a scoop or two of ice cream.

Congratulations

>See, persistence does pay off. Don't ever sell this one or give it away. Keep it somewhere you'll see it frequently, as it will serve as a great reminder to you of just how much fun it is to turn a project to completion, and as a good starting point to see how far you've come.

Every now and then we have a thread where everyone posts their first turnings. It is fun and encouraging for newcomers, one of which I still feel like. (espcially compared to Wally)

Plus, nice as it is, if you give it away to a relative, as most of us do, it'll haunt you for years to come whenever you see it displayed prominently in their homes, because you'll immediately think of how much better you can do. (ask me how I know this)

>Sorry I forgot to include details. green mulberry.

power sand with 80,100,240,320 then a bit with 600 hand held. Friction finish while spinning at high speed. I hope the bowl doesn't distort. I'm too new at this to know what to expect.

Thanks

>Well, if you already lost your moisture, no problem. I usually "rough out" the green wood bowls that I do. I leave about 1/2" for up to a 10" bowl to allow for distortion and differential drying. I then weigh them and set them aside. (Haven't gotten into microwaving them or the alcohol drying method.) I then re-turn them into finished shape after they have stabilized in weight. I haven't done mulberry, so I don't know if it will dry evenly. I usually don't finish sand them until after they have dried. My $0.02.
