>Regretably my new Trend Airshield would not fit on my head. Always thought my head was of normal size but the Trend wouldn't even slip down as far as my brows. Any suggestions of a comparable product that is made for larger heads?
>I'm sort of a "casaba" myself and I purchased the Tritan. I bought it when I had a serious allergic reaction to some of the Rosewoods - Cocobolo in particular (unfortunately, I had bought a LARGE chunk already) I liked the way it and it's shroud covered everything from the shoulders up. While it looks like it could be uncomfortable, it really isn't and I now use is whenever dust it prevalent.
>Ken I had to put a piece of sponge rubber on the band that goes over your head. That did the trick for me. Besides it made wearing the Trend easier on my noggin. I'd hate to see the person they used as a modle for the bands on that piece of equipment. Must have been from outer space LOL Darryl
>Make sure you adjust the head band (for diameter) and the top strap (for distance down the head) in several different configurations tofit and feel right. I have the opposite problem. I am more of a "pin head" myself.
>That's funny John. When I spoke to the gentleman I purchased the Trend from he told me there was only one adjustment and it was just too small for many people. I sent it back and considering what other respirator to buy. Very dissapointed.
>I guess I'm just a pinhead too (7-1/4), and my Trend can open up enough to fit my hand between the strap and my head.
But looking at the strap, if mine were too small I think I would just modify it. Cut the strap on the back at the side and splice in a piece of some material. I'd make it just fit with the adjustment knob in the middle of the range. A good material might be a piece of strap from an old hardhat or face shield or a piece of thin aluminum.
>He did not know his product. There are two adjustments. One for your hat size (circumferance around your head). The other adjusment is across the top of your head. That allows the shield to be lowered or raised in front of your head. The entire shiled by the way does tilt up. The across the top band raises or lowers the entire shield when the face plate is titled down in the using position (up or down acording to the length of your face). Boy if that does not confuse you nothing will...
Since you took it back what are you using for protection now??? Get something!!
>Thanks. Actually the airshield is boxed and ready for return but still in my garage. I'll open it and give it a try. I have considered placing a fan behind me and I already have a collector in front of the workpiece. That and a regular paper mask seems like enough protection. Am I wrong?
