Couple of questions

Carole in VA

>These little blocks that appear in cedar fascinate me. They look like sapwood, but can be scattered anywhere through the wood - even deep in the heart. They are almost always rectangular. Anyone know what causes this? As you can see, I have a crack that developed after the first coat of oil. Can I use CA in it or will the oil prevent it from adhering?

CA glue should work OK after the oil dries. I prefer epoxy, myself; I find it fills better.

>Carole,

I use CA to fill crack in cedar without problems. the white markss are actually sap wood. Think how easter cedar grows. it is may limbs that grow together and to form the main trunk.

I mostly have trouble hitting those hidden bark inclusions. It slings a chunk of the wood to who knows where.
