Keeping the General busy.

>I have been keeping the new lathe fairly busy...

Top left...oil lamp, base is ash and collar is madrone burl.

Top right...oil lamp, base is spalted poplar and collar is madrone burl.

Bottom left...wine bottle matt, poplar (tulip wood).

Bottom right...small bowl, spalted poplar.

Both lamps are 6" tall and the other two pieces are about 6 1/2" dia.

As usual, any comments welcome.

>Nice work! The lamp on the top left looks a little top heavy to me. I especially like the wine bottle mat. It would look great with a bottle of Pino Grigio on it. It looks like you have good technique.

>Thanks for your comments. I agree about the lamp in the top left. I have been pondering that one since I made it.

I did a couple of stability tests last night and decided to turn that one into a weed pot instead. The lamp inserts just pull out so I can put it in a more stable base.

Thanks again for your input...it helped my decision.
