>I have decided and placed an order for a Vega 2400. I have a smaller 3 inch chuck but think I should get a larger one also. I like the look of the vicmarc 5 and 1/2 inch chuck. Any thoughts about it and/or other comparable chucks?

You did not say what type of 3" chuck that you have, but if it is one of popular brands, the jaws from that may fit a 5" model from the same manufacturer. For instance, though I love the Vicmark, I already have a bunch of different jaws for my SuperNova. The new Nova Titan 5" chuck will take all the jaws I already have, AND new larger jaws just for it.
You might take some of these things into consideration.

>I have two Strongholds with most of the jaw sets for them. I just bought the large Vic keyed chuck to replace them. I plan on buying another Vic and the various jaws that I will need. IMHO, the Vic is a better built chuck and I like the jaws on the Vic better, especially the Sharks.
If you can find a wood show that has Craft Supply at it you can get a pretty good price on them. You can save over $25 and the price of shipping.
