JDS750 nightmare

>After paying my air conditioner man a hefty fee to
hang my new JDS air cleaner...it did not work.
He took out the motor assembly and discovered a brass insert was missing so the bolt would not secure the fan. He said he could shift the three
posts a bit and use sheet metal screws to hold the assembly instead of waiting for the delivery of a new brass insert or an exchange of the whole unit.
Any suggestions or advice appreciated. returning this very large heavy item is a whole lot of trouble. I just want the thing to work.
