Unmasked gloat and question

Jim Rutten

>In a couple of weeks SWMBO and I are going to London on vacation (that's the gloat) and I was wondering what the don't miss woodturning points of interest are (there's the question). We'll be in the Kensington area but I understand the Underground (subway) can get you almost anywhere.

I don't have an answer on the woodturning places to see but I have some tips on the Tube (Underground).

If you look around the internet for some London Tourism sites you can find a 5 or 7 day Tube/Underground pass that you can only buy outside the UK. It is at a greatly reduced price over purchasing tickets once you're there. The only downside is you have to validate it at one of the desgnated Underground Stations.

Good luck. You'll live by your Tube map. It is a great system.

>Try a post on www.woodturners.co.uk

also, when you are staying at hotels and b&bs in the UK the tend to be priced per person, not per room....

have a safe trip..

check out the UK woodturning mag for ads on shows.

>I don't know about wood turning places, but there is so much to do in London. I was there last fall and looking forward to my next trip. I think you could spend a month there and still not see all there is to see. If you don't like the tubes, black cabs are not unreasonable. Remember tipping is not expected. Pub food is great, I recommend a full English for breakfast, cream tea for a mid-afternoon snack and gammon and eggs or fish and chips for dinner. Try the HP sauce on your eggs or meat, and if you are in town on a Sunday, you cant beat a Sunday roast. You should have a wonderful time!
