Thinking of candy at the lathe

>Must be the kid in me! I've always had a sweet tooth, good thing I still have most of them at 51.

This is 3 1/4" diam. and about 6" tall, sanded to 1500 grit and a wipe-on poly finish.

Supposed to be a suction fit, but after a week it became quite sloppy :-( No warpage whatsoever, just shrinkage of the body.

Has anyone ever tried adding about 1/100th of an inch of wood to a lidded box joint?

I'm gonna put another coat or two on, all over. This was only two thin coats, wiped on with the lathe spinning.
