Couple of wood packages on the benefit auction.

Dave Smith, Longview, WA

>I have not been able to contribute financially to Wood Central because I am always traveling somewhere and spending all my wifes money. So if any of you stay at homes have any extra money check out the benefit auction for some wood packages I am offering. Right now there is a package of pen blanks and a box of thin boards suitable for boxes and inlaying.

If there is any interest I may auction a couple of roughed out bowls from the alcohol soak testing project.

>Hi Dave,

Any chance you would offer up a few bowl blanks for auction? Not roughed out bowls, but whole blanks?

I'm sure I would throw out a bid or two on those. I'm not a pen turner and don't really know what I'd do with the thin stock.

Thanks,

Mike

I guess you don't need an apple blank.

>Hi Mike,

I don't have much wood that would excite anybody but I will see what will fit in a flat rate box. That will limit the size to 5" thick x 8" x 10". It seems like every body turns pieces that need an engine hoist to get it on the lathe.

Dave Smith

Yeah and I am cheap too in Longview, WA.

>Hi Dave,

Mike is setting me up with the apple, so you're right about not needing that, but if you've got some, more than 1 chunk is always nice :) I'm planning an apple bowl for my kid's first grade teacher for an end of year gift and it's always good to have a back up plan in case the first one doesn't work out!!

Even if not apple, not to worry, other types are good as well. Don't let the sizes throw you. My lathe is a Jet Mini, so 8x3 is about perfect for that. No need to strain your back, that's my motto when turning :)

I hear big leaf maple grows wild out there. Also, some of my very favorite turning wood is myrtle, something else from your neck of the woods I hear. Really, anything is nice, I'm just happy to help you get your wood pile into a manageable size :)

No engine hoists required in Apex, NC!!!
