>OK.. I did a quick fix in Photoshop.. did not have the original tif file to work with.. for some idiot reason I got rid of it..LOL...

SO, the fix is not as sharp as it would be if I had been using a higher resolution image...

Is this better...

I want to thank everyone for their input.. it really means a lot to me..

>Tom, background is good, but FWIW, my eye still keeps going to the rock rather than the pen.

>The pen is beautiful, but I have to concur... This is the first time I've seen the picture, and although I did see the wonderful pen, my attention was brought to what's holding it up...(a rock?) It's not readily identifiable, and I found my self analyzing it trying to figure out what it was, instead of admiring the pen.

That's definitely more like I think it should look. I'm not good with photoshop but one way would be to cut out the pen and then fuzz the background with whatever filter you used. This would make it appear like it's on glass and the background it behind it. You can also play with the opacity of the background when you have it on a seperate layer.

>Thanks... I use Photoshop daily, I do scroll saw patterns for a side living and web design... so use it a lot... this was a quicky to see if I was getting closer to what the feedback said..

The rock holding the pen is a piece of flint module I got years ago.. just needed something to hold up the pen, still trying to figure out the perfect holder that won't draw attention away from the pen...

Round & Round

>Looks better with the blurred background..less distractive. I agree with the rest though, lose the rock. You also need to try a different arrangement with your lights, possibly add some fill lighting and get rid of the glare at the top and bottom of the pen. The middle of the pen looks great, go for that look overall and you'll have a winner.

>For some unknown reason, I liked the set up on the pen in the third picture better than the first two. The only difference I could see is that the third pen was rotated just enough so that the clip was more of a side view and reflected the light more. Everyone knows that a pen has a clip, but it just was more or less hidden in the first two pictures and I liked the third better for that reason alone.

>You may very well have done this but I just tried it today and it worked. Remove the refill from the pen, stick a small, stiff wire into something-wood, styrofoam, etc, at an angle with an inch or so sticking out. stick the pen down over the wire. It makes the pen stand upright at an angle which helps work in softer or unfocused backgrounds. Maybe everyone has done this but I had not and it works good.
