>I managed to get a nice section of fresh cut poplar which I wanted to practice on before I tried some CHOICE 18" cherry that I was able to score earlier this week. This stuff had to have been cut in the last day or so, after a cut the water was nearly dripping onto my new lathe bed. The shavings were remarkable and I was soaked after two 12" bowls were completed. I love my new lathe! I thought I had turned green wood before but this was a new experiance!

When I went into turning full time I promised myself that if it ever felf like work or felt like I was punching a time clock I would lock the shop door, and sell all my tools, and find something else to do. Life is to short to become a slave to another task master.

>Make certain you get that sap cleaned off your lathe and tools. It does tend to rust things pretty rapidly.
