India Ink Question

TomW in SouthJersey

>I applied India ink to a vessel lid (ebonizing didn't get it as dark as I had hoped). My question is, is there a way to polish it to a shinier finish or can I apply a wax or something that will achive an even satin type finish such as wipe on satin poly?

I apologize for posting redundant or elementary questions but I couldn't find this information any where on the net.

TIA,

Tom

>I use India ink often, and I burnish it with a steel rod.Rubbing real hard will bring up a nice subtle satin finish. You will need several coats of the ink to do this.Short quick way is to use paste wax on the parts you want a shine on.Will not last like the burnishing does.

It's alcohol sensitive so don't use shellac or something with alcohol in it. Iuse lacquer to finish it off. If it's too shiny you can knock it down with steel wool or buff with tripoli. You can also spray it with Krylon Fixatif and then buff it up to whatever gloss you want. If you buff it without some kind of finish it will make your wheels black.
