Larger Pecan Bowl - Outside

>Here is the last of the pecan wood I had. It is 9 X 3 inches. The top rim is 1/2 inch wide but it narrows inside the top lip.

I enjoyed working with this wood. The grain pattern reminds me of hickory. The bowls look better on the inside where the wood patterns really come out.

It is sanded to 4000 micro mesh and finished with ShellaWax friction polish.

Comments welcome I use the constructive critique. Everything I know about turning I've learned here in the past 5 months.

PS - I really need to concentrate on getting a photo setup. These don't do the wood justice.

>Very nice bowl. On the next one, you might want to try slanting the rim inward. Or make the rim slighly concave. Either technique makes a nice looking rim.

>Nice looking wood. It reminds you of hickory because it is a relative of hickory.

>Thanks. I didn't know it was a relative of hickory. No wonder. Maybe I should find some hickory to turn.

>Hi Tom,

A very nice looking bowl. I've never turned pecan before but I hear it's wonderful. I know Dominic turns a lot of it. Your finsh looks great too.
