Pear Bowl

Sam Dean

>All,

I've been meaning to post some pics for a while, just never got around to it. This is a pear bowl, about 12" in dia. by 4 1/2" tall by 5/16" thick. The finish is bees wax, melted in with a propane torch on the lathe. The wood is so easy to turn and cuts so smooth, that I just touched it with 400 grit paper and that was it! It may not look like much, but it's my favoite bowl. Critiques are very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Sam

>I like the lines going around it. Very nice grain pattern also. I'll have to try to find some pear wood. I can see why its a favorite.

>Thanks Tom. It's very hard to find pieces big enough to make a 12 inch bowl. If you ever chance into any, get all that you can. It's a wondefuld wood that will take a mirror polish or a satin sheen equally well.
