>Lay in bed last night thinking about a collapsible, no metal, parts easily replaceable field sawbuck and this is what I came up with. It's held together with loose dowels which allow it to swivel to the gap you want. There are two sets of holes in the bottom rails to expand the adjustability. The weight of the log holds it in place, but it you wanted to, you could run the holes in the bottom all the way thru and use pointed dowels. There is no metal to ruin a saw chain and parts that get get chewed up are quickly replaced. Will test it out this afternoon.

>That will work fine Carole. Old guys like me like to have the wood off the ground. I would have to be on my knees to use this one and that means taking someone with me when I cut wood just to help me up.

I have been way to hard on my knees.

>Tommy and I used it this afternoon. Only problem is the wood tends to move forward a little (less so as the rails got chewed on a bit) so I am going to add two small pegs on the bottom front rail. It is a bit hard on the back, but not as hard as finding some logs somewhere and trying to lift them whole into the truck! It's meant to be a field buck. LOL I am going to build one like yours for home use.
