I really like that! I love the way you have incorporated the stand into the piece. I'm curious as to what order you did things? Did you turn it from "top to bottom" without ever reverse chucking (and then just part it off the lathe) or was it somehow rechucked to work on the foot? It looks really delicate for that, but you never know.

>Mike, you got it right on. I finished the inside before proceeding to the outside, from top to bottom and then used a thin parting tool to make a cone-shaped cut at the bottom.

Brian Clifford has a useful tutorial on turning natural edge goblets like my piece. Go to his home page (linked below)--it's under "Projects" at the right. I discovered his site a couple years ago, about 8 years after I started turning this type of form--how often have we said "there's nothing new under the sun"?
