>John,
I saw your demonstration at the AAW symposium in Orlando on "Turning Hand Mirrors". Really enjoyed it and got some good ideas. For anyone in, around or passing through Texas the first weekend in October, there is the 13th annual SouthWest Association of Turners (SWAT) symposium. The symposium war formerly the Texas Turn or Two (TTT). Two and 1/2 days of quality demos equal to the AAW. The dates are October 1-3, 2004 in Temple, Texas at the Mayborn Convention Center. Our Lead Demonstrators are Michael Hosaluk of Canada, Nick Cook from Georgia, Linda Salter from California, Phil Brennion from Arizona and Steve Worcester from Texas. Seventeen (17) other regional turners round out the demonstrator list. Early registration is over but one can still register for only $75 or $115/couple. This includes two noon meals on Saturday & Sunday. The Saturday night banquet is an additional $15 per person. There will be over 30 turnings donated by demonstrators and other attendees, collectively worth thousands of dollars, in our two-for-one drawing that evening. At noon on Sunday, another raffle drawing will be held and will include hundreds of dollars worth of items. The main raffle prize is a PM 3520a lathe and two mini-jets, one of which is the newer variable speed. You don't want to miss this symposium. Other items will include turning tools, chucks, grinders, Wolverine Sharpening Jigs, wood, etc. Check our website at: www.swaturners.com. There you will find the rotation schedule, registration form and other information. We broke the attendance record last year at 458 and with "your" attendance, we can break it again.
